Experience

Professional roles, student project leadership, and volunteering, in reverse chronological order.

Professional roles

- present

Doctoral researcher

SnT, University of Luxembourg, Kirchberg

  • Developing semantic relational SLAM and situational-awareness architectures for UAVs in C++ and Python.
  • Working with ROS 2, PX4, and OpenVINS on embedded Linux with Raspberry Pi camera and IMU sensing.
  • Using Docker-based tooling and Kalibr calibration across simulation, laboratory, hardware, and flight testing.
  • Pursuing collaborative missions based on shared semantic maps, resource-efficient navigation, and mission-aware coordination as a research direction.

-

AOCS/GNC engineer intern

Airbus Defence and Space, Stevenage, UK

  • Led LiDAR test activities on breadboards iBB3 and iBB4 in support of a Sample Fetch Rover concept-of-operations demonstration at Technology Readiness Level 6.
  • Built a networked ROS LiDAR bench running over local wireless; executed test procedures and collected and analysed campaign performance data.
  • Developed offline GNC in C and C++ on Linux with a scene generator producing synthetic images and scans.
  • Investigated terrain generation, LiDAR and radar sensor modelling, and Vector Field Histogram planning for lunar-rover navigation.
  • Worked in an Agile team using Git/GitLab, Jira, and Confluence, documenting test status and resolving software, sensor, and hardware integration issues.

Project leadership

-

AOCS/ADCS lead, JamSail 3U CubeSat

NottSpace, University of Nottingham

  • Owned subsystem requirements, interfaces, and the verification plan.
  • Wrote embedded C flight software for the mission.
  • Developed NBodySimulator to simulate and test JamSail ADCS, with EKF fusion of sun-sensor, magnetometer and IMU data and a sun-sensing algorithm.
  • Studied TRIAD but rejected it due to noise sensitivity; selected sun-visible operation with the Kalman Filter to meet payload requirements at lowest cost.
  • Implemented IGRF myself for magnetic-field modelling, alongside FFT-based signal analysis and low-pass filtering.

-

Systems engineer, IDET-Sat CubeSat

Nottingham Space Society student-led CubeSat team

  • Worked on requirements, system architecture, subsystem interfaces, and breakdown structures.
  • Worked with Raspberry Pi on Linux alongside microcontrollers, IMUs, and cameras.
  • Part of a 12-person team that achieved a top-four finish among 12 UK teams in the UKSEDS Satellite Design Competition.

Volunteering

-

Competitions Management Co-Lead

UKSEDS

  • Began as an Olympus Rover Trials volunteer, then served as Competitions Management Co-Lead.
  • Covered four competitions - ORT, SDC, ISAM, and NRC - across volunteer coordination, schedules, documentation, and partners.
